PRODUCT DETAILS
Where do you get your materials from?
All of our items are made from recycled timber that has usually been donated to the Shed by some wonderful friends, members and partners of Mandurah Men's Shed. Occasionally some special timber items and hardware items may be purchased.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
How does Mandurah Men's Shed support the local community?
We support the local community by providing the opportunity for men to socialise in a safe and supportive environment. We also assist other community groups by making 'one-off' items, e.g. garden benches for Retirement Villages, playground structures for Child Centre's. We also donate items to other groups to use for their fundraising activities.
VOLUNTEERING
What does being a volunteer at Mandurah Men's Shed involve?
Our members are able to get involved in every step of the journey from donated wood to selling finished toys and furniture! This can vary between preparing timber for others to make the items, learning to use the tools and making the furniture and toys - learning to use specific items is voluntary and every member gets to choose what they do at the Shed.
We also attend special community events to sell items or give away small toys to children who attend the event. e.g. Christmas Pagaent, Wellness Wednesday, Easter Festival, Mandurah Arts Festival, Hotham Valley Railway Events.
I don't have any woodwork experience, can I still volunteer?
Absolutely! If you are interested in learning about making the toys then step right up and we will show you how to use the tools, but if you just want to be around the hustle and bustle and make some new friends then that's absolutely fine too!
We hope that helps, but if you need any further assistance drop us an email at mandurahmensshed@gmail.com
